Saskatchewan doctor shares tips to stay healthy this cold and flu season
You might be noticing more people at work and at home getting sick again in Saskatchewan. It’s just that time of year.
Dr. Carla Holinaty is a family doctor in Saskatchewan and said when fall rolls around, there is always a big surge in people getting the common cold, or rhinovirus, with influenza, COVID-19, and RSV making the rounds in the winter.
“We are definitely starting to see an uptick in influenza and in COVID,” she said. “But I don’t know that I’ve seen any signals that it’s going to be worse than usual.”
Dr. Holinaty said there are several reasons for the surge in illnesses this time of year, including the cold, dry air that allows respiratory viruses to survive longer in the air.
