Charlotte Ann Marie Benson (née Lameman) August 16, 1952 – October 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charlotte Ann Marie Benson on October 4, 2026, at the North Battleford Hospital, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Charlotte was born on August 16, 1952, to the late Jerome and Bella Lameman, the third oldest of nine siblings. In July of 1970, she met the love of her life, Gale Benson. Together, they built a home grounded in deep love, warmth, and laughter—a sanctuary where everyone was welcomed and cherished.
A beautiful and endlessly devoted mother, grandma, and chapān, Charlotte’s family was the center of her world. She never missed a hockey or ball game, and she took every opportunity to remind her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren just how deeply proud she was of them. Affectionately known as “Old Grandma” to her great-grandchildren, she treasured every moment spent with them, whether cheering passionately from the stands or watching the kids dance with pride at powwows. Throughout her life, Charlotte navigated both immense joy and hardship with incredible grace, strength, and kindness, never uttering a bad word about anyone.
Charlotte leaves behind a rich legacy of love. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Gale; her children, Priscilla (Adrian) Whitstone and Janice Benson; her grandchildren, Tashina (Ualesi), Andrew (Beatrisha), Lindsay (Nolin), Shawna (Adam), Matthew (Claudine), Colby (Terree), Tianna (Justin), Kwelynn, Marian (Tyree), Ayanna, and Beau; and her great-grandchildren, Rhys, Maveryk, Dayton, Nolin Jr., Liyla, Logan, Layne, Olivia, Ellis, Melefiva, Calla, Lauryn, Teuila, Justin Jr., and Warhcha. She is also remembered by her sister Rose and brother Gary Lameman, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Charlotte was reunited in rest with her beloved children, Michele, Preston, and Jacqueline; her parents, Jerome and Bella; her brothers, Ernest and James; and her sisters, Geraldine, Elaine, Gina, Sherry, and Judy.
Her warmth, gentle spirit, and unshakeable pride in her family will be missed beyond measure and held forever in our hearts.
Charlotte began her journey home on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Her Funeral Service will take place Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. held at the Chief Glen Keskotagan Memorial Hall at Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Interment will follow at the Red Pheasant Anglican Cemetery.
