John Edward Siemens was born to Peter and Annie Siemens on May 10, 1933 in Elbow, SK. He grew up in the Medstead area and attended Marron school. He was a farmer all his life. He was active in serving his community and serving the Lord through the Mennonite Brethren church where he attended all his life. He met his wife Katie in the church community. They were married for 55 years. They raised their family in the Medstead area, teaching family lessons through hard work, faith in God, love and laughter through good and difficult times. He enjoyed raising cattle. He had many horses and enjoyed riding and driving. Katie passed away in March of 2011.
He married Betty in July 2013. He moved off the farm and lived in Spiritwood. In retirement years, along with his wife Betty, they enjoyed volunteer work, travelling near and far to visit family and friends. John’s home was always open to family, relatives, friends and strangers. He was a man of faith, reading his Bible daily and fervent in prayer. In 2025 he moved to an assisted living facility in Edam.
John will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Medstead Community Hall. Donations can be made in John’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
