Redblacks fire football operations VP Shawn Burke amid 0-10 start to season

OTTAWA — Shawn Burke was fired as vice president of football operations of the Ottawa Redblacks on Sunday as the front office turnover continues amid an 0-10 start to the CFL season.

Burke has led the club’s football operations since joining the team in 2021 as general manager.

He was promoted to vice president before this season after the club named former Toronto coach Ryan Dinwiddie as Redblacks head coach and GM.

The team made the playoffs just once during his tenure.

Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group chief executive officer Mark Goudie said in a release that relieving Burke of his duties was a difficult decision, but results on the field have not met expectations.
