Battleford introduces tax payment plan for struggling property owners
A new tax enforcement payment plan aims to help struggling Battleford property owners catch up on outstanding taxes while keeping current payments up to date.
Shawn Sylvester, town clerk for the Town of Battleford, presented the policy to council Monday evening.
“These are people that often haven’t made any payments and would like to get back on track with their finances,” he said. “I have made out very clear, black and white criteria for following these payment arrangements.”
The program can run for a maximum of two years. Property owners who miss two payments in full will be removed from the program and will not be eligible to re-enter with the same accumulated debt.
