Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame welcomes 2026 induction class
Some of Saskatchewan’s top baseball figures were enshrined in history Saturday as the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum welcomed its 2026 induction class, honouring 11 individuals, three teams and one family.
Dr. Craig Weran, who grew up playing baseball in the Battlefords before his career took him across North America and to England, called the induction a homecoming.
“My grandma lived across the street from the museum. I played my minor ball here, went to school here. My first coaches were from here,” Weran said. “So it’s kind of a full-circle moment.”
Weran’s baseball journey recently culminated with him joining the 30/30 club after visiting all 30 Major League Baseball parks. Fenway Park was the final stadium on his list a couple of years ago, where he got his first baseball during batting practice. However, Weran said PNC Park in Pittsburgh was his favourite.
