“The starting pitching has been really good for both teams. They took Game 1, 4-1, and then were up on us in Game 2 up until the seventh. It’s been really evenly matched so far.”

The Beavers enter the game familiar with elimination pressure after winning a must-win Game 2. They also bring plenty of championship experience as they pursue a fourth straight title.

“It definitely helps to have the experience in meaningful games. When you have that experience, the big games just turn into regular games. So we just prepare like it’s any other game,” said Gatzke.

“It gives the guys confidence knowing that we’re never out of a ball game until the final out. That’s something we preach all the time: baseball is a game that can swing lots throughout the game. So just make sure that we’re doing what we can all the way till the final out, and that’ll give us the best outcome.”

Asked whether there was anything specific the Beavers needed to watch for, Gatzke did not identify one area but said his team is not underestimating its opponent.

“They’re a great team over there. They’ve got a good mix of veterans, and then they’ve got some young kids now that are really good ballplayers, and they always bring their best when they play against us,” he said.

“It’s always competitive games and we bring out the best in each other. But we got a good squad on our side too. It makes things really entertaining.”

First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. at Beaver Lions Stadium. The Beavers are looking to become the first team to win four straight championships since the Lloydminster Twins won six consecutive titles from 2009 to 2014.
