In a press release, the Ministry of Community Safety said the investigation remains in its early stages, and officials said no further details will be released at this time.

Fatal wildlife attacks remain rare in Saskatchewan, but the province recorded a deadly encounter with a bear just a few months ago. In May, a 27-year-old contractor was killed by a black bear at a remote work site northeast of Points North Landing. That was the fourth recorded fatal black bear attack in Saskatchewan.
