North Stars announce Logan returning as head coach, GM for next season

After his first season behind the bench for the Battlefords North Stars, Connor Logan is staying put.

The club announced the reigning SJHL Coach of the Year will return as head coach and general manager for the 2026-27 season.

In his rookie season as the Battlefords bench boss, Logan led the North Stars to a 35-15-4-2 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record and a Nutrien Division title. Battlefords pushed the Yorkton Terriers to Game 7 of the SJHL semifinal before falling short.

“Ultimately, we’ll use last season as motivation more than anything. I don’t want to pat ourselves on the back because our ultimate goal is to win a championship,” said Logan.

“To do that, you need to build the culture and the characteristics within our group, within each individual, that are necessary to take those steps through the playoffs and ultimately get over the line. We saw some good signs in that direction, and some things we still need to push and instill even more.”

A big difference for Logan heading into next season will be having a full off-season to work with and greater familiarity with his staff.

“Knowing what it looks like on a daily basis and what it feels like to be on the bench with these guys, and having a good returning group, is a lot different than stepping in as a coach and trying to figure it out. Coming in with a sense of unity, knowing we’re all coming back with aspirations to get it done, is a really humbling and exciting feeling.”

With roots in the Battlefords as both a player and coach, Logan said he is excited to remain with the North Stars as the club chases its fifth championship in franchise history.

“I was proud of the guys and what we’ve started here, but that’s really all I would say about it — it’s just a start. I’m obviously grateful to the organization, to Kyle and Mitch, the presidents, and to Wylie for bringing me in, and I’m excited to try to take another step next year with the group we have.”

The North Stars also announced Wylie Riendeau will return as head scout and assistant general manager, while Owen Lamb will return as assistant coach.
