Through the eyes of Battlefords COPP: ride along with volunteers
*BattlefordsNOW reporter Alyssa Rudolph was invited to document a ride along with Battlefords COPP’s Doug Fehr. This story only shares a small portion of how patrols are conducted to ensure safety for volunteers.
Across Saskatchewan, Citizens on Patrol Programs (COPP) have played a key role in helping deter crime and improve community safety for decades.
Made up of dedicated volunteers, the program works alongside local law enforcement by observing and reporting suspicious activity, helping provide an extra set of eyes and ears in communities.
That contribution is especially evident in the Battlefords, where about 45 local COPP volunteers are now celebrating 30 years of service. Over the past three decades, members have spent countless hours patrolling neighborhoods, supporting community events, and helping residents feel safer in their daily lives.
