Man charged after significant copper wire RCMP investigation

Two firearms, methamphetamine, and copper wire were seized at a residence in Wilkie, following a significant RCMP investigation.  

On April 25, officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT), and the Wilkie RCMP conducted an ongoing investigation in Wilkie with a relation to drug trafficking.  

Officers obtained a warrant and searched a residence in the town. That is where officers located methamphetamine, one firearm, and one prohibited firearm, as well as a large amount of copper wire.  

An adult man and two adult women were arrested at the scene; the women were released without charge. 41-year-old Marlon Marchewka from Wilkie is charged with:  

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking 
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 
  • two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm 
  • two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • two counts, unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • one count, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition 
  • one count, fail to comply with release order condition 

Wilkie RCMP also laid charges in relation to a separate copper wire theft from a grain elevator in April that resulted in significant charges. Marchewka is also charged with: 

  • one count, break and enter 
  • one count, mischief over $5,000 
  • one count, theft over $5,000 

He appeared in Battleford Provincial Court on April 27, as Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford CRT and Wilkie RCMP continue to investigate.
