Apr 27, 2026 | 2:01 PM

A 24-year-old man is facing charges after a stabbing in North Battleford on Saturday.

Officers were called around 4 a.m. on April 25 to the 1700 block of 105th Street after receiving a report of a man yelling. Two additional calls followed, indicating a man was seriously injured.

Multiple officers entered a house on the street due to concerns for the safety of those inside, where they ended up finding a man suffering from stab wounds.

Officers provided initial medical assistance until EMS arrived and transported him to hospital, along with a woman who was also injured.

“Initial investigation has determined an altercation took place inside the residence on 105th Street between two adult males,” the RCMP said in a release issued Monday.

“One male stabbed the other male during the altercation. An adult female was also injured during the altercation. The adult male suspect was arrested by RCMP outside another residence on 105th Street.”

As a result, Shelwin Tootoosis, 24, of North Battleford is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon under the Criminal Code. He made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court Monday morning.

The investigation is ongoing by the Battlefords RCMP Detachment and General Investigation Section.
