Rodeo weekend brings spike in traffic enforcement to North Battleford

Apr 27, 2026 | 12:33 PM

Local Battlefords roadways experienced significant traffic over rodeo weekend, prompting assistance by Community Safety Officers (CSO) to enhance traffic enforcement.

On Saturday evening, CSO files included:

  • Six tickets issued under the provincial Traffic Safety Act.
  • One ticketed driver who was found to be travelling 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. This resulted in a seven-day license suspension and a fine of $966.
  • Ten warnings issued under the provincial Traffic Safety Act.
  • Nine roadside alcohol screening tests, with seven passes and two fails. The two drivers who failed were both under the age of 21, resulting in 60-day license suspensions and three-day vehicle impoundments with financial penalties.

CSOs also supported operations at the North Battleford arena by assisting with crowd management and the closure of the rodeo dance event in response to safety concerns.
