More snow expected over the coming days

Before the snow arrives, we could see a wintry mix of rain, followed by potential freezing rain. Climenhaga said that rain will change to snow, which at times could be heavy in the early overnight hours, and travel conditions could be negatively affected.

“Expect slippery conditions tomorrow morning,” Climenhaga said, and temperatures will drop throughout the day tomorrow, and the cooler than average conditions will stick around for the rest of the work week. 

Climenhaga said the Prince Albert area could see five to 10 cm of snow overnight and another few centimetres tomorrow.  La Ronge can expect about five cm of snow tonight and another five to 10 cm tomorrow. Melfort and the northeast could see a few centimetres of snow tonight, and five to 10 cm on Wednesday. 

“It’s going to feel wintry over the next couple of days.” 

Another weather system on Thursday will bring snow to southern and south-central Saskatchewan. North Battleford could see some snow with that system, and Climenhaga said that system could be messy with some rain mixed in at times. While areas like Melfort, Prince Albert, and La Ronge won’t see as much snow with that system, Climenhaga said travel conditions could be affected. 

There may be a break in the wet weather on the weekend, with temperatures recovering by Sunday, as daily highs are expected to be near normal at the end of the weekend into next week.
