Lloydminster launches new plan to address housing gaps, guide future affordable homes
The City of Lloydminster is launching a new plan aimed at addressing housing gaps and guiding where accessible and affordable homes should be built in the years ahead.
Called the HAPPY Plan, the initiative is designed to determine what types of housing are needed in the community and how partners can work together to move projects forward.
The plan builds on the city’s 2024 Housing Needs Assessment and Strategy, which identified the need for coordinated action across the full housing continuum – including family shelter, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and affordable housing.
Following that study, the city established a Housing Working Group under its Social Policy Framework. The group brings together local service providers, non-profits and community partners to advance recommendations and strengthen collaboration.
