Child pornography charges laid against Lloyd man following lengthy RCMP investigation

Feb 11, 2026 | 3:23 PM

A 32-year-old Lloydminster man is facing multiple child pornography charges following a years-long investigation involving a specialized Alberta police unit.

Lloydminster RCMP said the investigation began in October, 2024 after officers received information from the Northern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit indicating child pornography had allegedly been uploaded, shared or created by someone in the Lloydminster area.

Police said the suspect was not initially identified, though investigators were provided with potential email addresses and screen names. The Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Section later took over the case.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect over the course of the investigation and obtained an arrest warrant, which was executed Feb. 5, 2026.

Jayson Vincent Capio, 32, of Lloydminster, has been charged with distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

Capio was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He made his first appearance in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster on Feb. 10.

RCMP did not release additional details about the allegations.
