SHARE THE WARMTH

SaskEnergy, CMHA Battlefords host Share the Warmth Day highlighting mental health support

Feb 10, 2026 | 4:02 PM

On Tuesday morning, SaskEnergy and Canadian Mental Health Association Battlefords Branch gathered to host the second of four Share the Warmth Days in Saskatchewan.

The event highlighted the work CMHA does to support individuals experiencing challenges related to mental health through their Group Peer Support Program.

Executive director for CMHA Battlefords Branch said the support program is different from going to see an accredited medical professional.

“Our peer support individual is a person that has lived mental health and or addictions experience, and they help support others to set their own goals. They do not give advice, so that’s a difference, but they do help them set goals, build their toolkits,” said Michele Winterholt.

CMHA Battlefords Branch is one of many organizations in the province that received funding through SaskEnergy’s Share the Warmth Program. Winterholt said the funding they applied for was used to host a Christmas celebration during the holidays.

“It allows us to provide that opportunity for our members to connect socially, connect sometimes with folks they haven’t seen in a long time. It also gives them the opportunity to have a warm meal, especially during a time when some people may be isolated or don’t have loved ones that are near them to support them or be around them,” she said.

SaskEnergy employees were able to join the morning support group at CMHA and helped to serve the participants with lunch and essential items.

“We’re proud to work with CMHA Battlefords Branch and support the important work this charitable organization does in the community,” said Allix Schweitzer, supervisor of community engagement at SaskEnergy. “Share the warmth is about meeting people where they are and supporting non-profits that offer compassion, connection and practical help to those who need it most.”

The Share the Warmth grant program has provided over $630,000 to more than 650 Saskatchewan projects since 2013. This year the events started in Regina on Jan 28 and will continue with upcoming events in Moose Jaw and Tisdale.
