North Stars prepare for pair of matchups with Warman Wolverines

Feb 6, 2026 | 12:14 PM

After a win against the Humboldt Broncos to snap a three-game skid, the Battlefords North Stars are facing off with the Warman Wolverines for a home-and-home weekend series.

The two teams have played five times so far this season. The North Stars have a 3-0-1-1 record against Warman. Last time the two teams played was a weekend series on Jan. 16-17 when the North Stars won the first game 4-3 in Warman. The Wolverines took the second matchup 5-4 in overtime in North Battleford.

The North Stars (26-11-3-2, 1st in Nutrien Division), have won 10 of the 14 games they have played in 2026, although they have fallen in three of their last four contests. In their last game, the North Stars took down the Humboldt Broncos 3-2 at home. Will Kirwan’s first SJHL goal was the game winner in the Tuesday victory.

On the other side, the Wolverines (11-27-2-2, 4th in Nutrien Division) have won just three of the 11 games they have played in the calendar year, although one of those victories came against the North Stars. Warman has lost three straight contests, most recently falling 5-1 to the Kindersley Klippers on Wednesday.

When playing the Wolverines, Josh Knittig leads the way for the North Stars in points with nine (5G-4A). Anthony Campbell is in second with eight points (1G-7A), and Gavin Granger has seven (1G-6A).

Just as they are top three in points against the Wolverines, Knittig’s 46 points (18G-28A) along with Campbell’s 45 points (15G-30A) and Granger’s 35 points (6G-29A) lead the team in scoring throughout the season. Granger is just one point behind Yorkton Terriers blueliner Thomas Ries for the league lead in points among defencemen.

On the Wolverines side, Pherson Loehndorf leads in scoring with six points (2G-4A) against the North Stars, while Trey Markus (2G-3A) and Cam Sarna (1G-4A) have five points each against the North Stars this season with Warman.

In total scoring, Loehndorf and Sarna rank first and second on the team. Leohndorf has 34 points (9G-25A) while Sarna leads team forwards with 28 (6G-22A).

Currently seven points behind the Flin Flon Bombers, the North Stars are in the hunt for first place in the SJHL with just 14 games left to go in the regular season.

The Ultra Print pregame show begins at 6:30 p.m., while the puck drops for Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey at 7 p.m. on CJNB/CJNS.
