North Stars host the Humboldt Broncos looking to avoid fourth straight loss

After a winless weekend in Melville and Yorkton, the Battlefords North Stars are trying to get back to their winning ways when they host the Humboldt Broncos. The North Stars (25-11-3-2, 1st in Nutrien Division) have lost in three straight contests after starting the calendar year with an 11-game point streak. 

On the other side, the Broncos (19-19-1-1, 3rd in Nutrien Division) are the winners of two consecutive games after a pair of 5-4 overtime wins against the Warman Wolverines over the weekend. 

The North Stars have found their fair share of success against the Broncos this year, with a 4-1-0-0 record against Humboldt. 

Last time they played against each other, it resulted in a 4-1 win for the North Stars in Humboldt. Kobe Sawyer has led the way in points for the North Stars when facing the Broncos this year with five points (3G-2A) in five games. Finlay Klippenstein has the most goals against the Broncos out of any North Stars with four in three games. 

Josh Knittig leads the North Stars in points in general with 46 points (18G-28A) in 38 games. North Stars captain Anthony Campbell is second on the team with 45 (15G-30A), while Gavin Granger’s 35 points (6G-29A) is third on the team, and tied for the league lead among defencemen. 

On the other side, Avery Lowe leads active Broncos in scoring against the North Stars this season with seven points (4G-3A) in four games, while Logan Flint is next up with three points (2G-1A) in four games. 

Tyce Penrod is the active points leader for the Broncos through the season with 25 points (10G-15A). 

The North Stars had a pair of players take home the SJHL Monthly Awards. Josh Knittig won the SJHL MVP of the month with 20 points (10G-10A) in 12 games.

Along with Knittig, North Stars goaltender Kaeden Serpa won the goalie of the month award. He had a record of 6-1-0-1, a .919 save percentage and 3.18 goals against average.

Tonight’s game is a rescheduled contest after being postponed on Dec. 16, 2025. The Ultra Print pregame show begins at 7 p.m. Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7:30 on CJNB/CJNS.
