A light that warmed many hearts was gently taken from this world and with deep love and sorrow, the family of Rodney Russell announce his passing on January 14, 2026. A Service of Remembrance will be held on January 29th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in North Battleford, Saskatchewan with Reverend Trevor Malyon officiating.
Rodney was raised on the farm with his two sisters, Donna and Heather, and this is where his love of farming and the outdoors began. Whether it was caring for the cattle or helping with the crops, he was always ready and willing to get the job done. As the years went by, he never lost his love for a good out door adventure like snowmobiling, dirt biking, hunting, or even water skiing. From a young age Rodney had a love for animals and that was a gift he was able to pass onto his daughters and grandchildren. Rodney was a member of the RM of douglas 4-H multiple club. Rodney was so proud as he watched his grandchildren take part in continuing his passion and following his footsteps in the 4-h beef project. Over the years his determination and eagerness to learn gave him the ability to experience different career paths like trucking, farming, mechanics and eventually owning his own business. Rodney made an impact on everyone he met and he will be truly missed and loved by many.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, Cecil Russell, Cecil’s dog Dixie; children Carla (Cody) Huard, Christie (Dave) Sinclair, grandchildren: Greysen, Paige, Daniel, Claira; sisters: Donna Turner, Heather Balas; nephew: Steven Ladwig.
Rodney was predeceased by his mother, Paulette Russell; step-mother, Pauline Russell; uncles: Norman Russell, Ron Russell; aunt, Gladys Pickett; father-in-law, Emile Burnett; and his beloved dog, Bozoe; grandparents: Nick and Clara Lesko, George and Beatrice Russell. He will be remembered by all family and friends.
