Frederick James Doyle
November 11, 1947 – October 25, 2025
It is with deep love and sadness that we share the passing of Frederick (Fred) James Doyle, who passed away peacefully in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on October 25, 2025, at the age of 77.
Fred was born in Saint John, New Brunswick to Vincent E. Doyle and Helen E. Carscallen (née Belding). He grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and Kingston, Ontario, before proudly serving in the Royal Canadian Navy as a young man. After his service, Fred ventured west, where he built his life and made many lasting friendships. Fred’s life was deeply shaped by two special women: his first wife, Ovilu, who remained a dear friend throughout his life, and his long-time partner, Mary Jane, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship. Both passed before him, but their memories stayed close to his heart.
Fred is survived by his beloved children Alexia Doyle Fruin (Jason Morton), Percy Paul, Pauline Paul (Joseph Osecap), and Jessica Paul, and was predeceased by his daughter Ida Paul. He will be forever remembered by his cherished grandchildren Peter, Jeremy, LaRaine, Beskaii, Riley, Caitlin, Brett, Mary-Jane (Missy), Sage, Reid and Skylar, who brought him immense pride and joy. Fred leaves behind his sister, Janice Doyle (Randy Ferguson), and was predeceased by his brother Sydney Fruin Doyle (Linda Doyle, née Hay). As well as his companions he lovingly called Scotty the Dog and Charles the Dog. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and extended family members.
Throughout his life, Fred found purpose in helping others. He worked as a drug and addictions counselor, offering understanding and compassion to those in need, before taking to the open road as a long-haul truck driver, traveling across North America. In his later years, he embraced a slower pace, enjoying the company of family and friends.
Fred was known for his love of coffee, storytelling, and a good joke. He lived simply, loved deeply, and left a warm impression on everyone who knew him.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at River Heights Lodge, St. Paul’s Hospital, and Battlefords Union Hospital for their kindness and support. A very special thank you goes to Carol Boire, whose friendship and unwavering support meant so much to Fred and his family.
Fred lived a simple life and would want those who knew him to do what makes them happy, stay strong, and live well. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
