A Lloydminster man is without his vehicle, after a case of excessive speed.
Maidstone RCMP say they clocked the man driving at 161 km/h Wednesday, April 6. It happened during a patrol of Highway 17, which has a speed limit of 100 km/h. It not only resulted in a charge, but the impoundment of the man’s vehicle.
According to RCMP, exceeding the speed limit by at least 50 now results in an automatic seven-day vehicle impoundment.
That was one of 59 cases dealt with by Maidstone RCMP in the past week. The detachment also reports a vehicle/moose collision near Paynton Thurs. April 7. A pickup truck had serious damage, but two people in the vehicle, both from out of province, were not hurt.
