On Sunday, August 3, 2025, Mr. Edward “Ted” Harris of Spruce Lake, passed away in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan at the age of 76 years.
Edward (Ted) Harris was born on September 4, 1948, in Turtleford to Alfred and Roberta, the fifth of nine children. Ted was a kind, gentle, patient person. He loved his family dearly, and his grandchildren and great granddaughter were very special to him. Ted wasn’t much for schooling, so at a very young age he went to work for Ed Reeve on his farm, and later for Cliff Knight, and then at St. Walburg Motors. He worked in Hinton at Wagners Sawmill for a winter, on Sunday’s, their day off, he would load railroad ties for a penny a tie. In 1972 he married Wanda Forbes. They purchased the Reg Potter homestead NW-20-53-21 W3. They began their farming life and were still residing at the farm at the time of his passing. It was here they raised their three children. In his younger years, Ted enjoyed curling and taught all of his kids how to curl on natural ice at a young age. He was involved with his children’s 4-H projects, helping train their animals to prepare for the show. The calves were from his own herd, and he was proud of his cattle. Ted also had a love for horses, and he fed cattle with them for many years. His kids, nieces, and nephews used to ride behind the sleigh on toboggans, bouncing over frozen turds. When Max Volk started his chuckwagon Ted was his co-pilot. He would have loved to join the circuit, but Wanda said no. He had many interests; bowling, hunting, fishing, and his favorite game, bean bags, he would challenge anyone. He had many friends who he loved to play cards and have coffee with. His last few weeks were spent fishing with his grandchildren and doing what he loved best, bailing hay.
