Mary passed quietly on June 19, 2025, listening to her favorite hymns and prayers. She spent 99+ years living in and around Spiritwood and took great pride in her community. Family, Faith, Friends, Flowers, Farming and Fishing were utmost in Mary’s life.
Grandson Chris Hujber shared a heartfelt eulogy with her friends and family at a service in Spiritwood at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on June 27, 2025. Interment was in the Spiritwood Cemetery where Mary is laid to rest beside Steve.

The family of Mary Hujber extend their sincere thanks to the friends Mary enjoyed so much over the years and her coffee friends during her last years in her own home. The staff at Rose Gill Lodge in Rabbit Lake (2019-2022) for the wonderful care and friendship she received while living there. The staff at Spiritwood LTC (2022-2025) and Doctor Person for the excellent care received, especially during the last two months. Thank you to the residents she created friendships with; she appreciated you so much. Thank you to Father Ramel Macapala for visits and support for Mary and the family and a beautiful service. Thank you to Mary’s grandchildren, great grandchildren and spouses who so proudly represented the family during the service. The musicians, florists, caterers, Beau ”Lac” staff, and all the friends who made the day easier and helped celebrate a life well lived.
