Updated: Kidnapping victim found safe in residence

Update – Feb. 14, 2:25 p.m.

RCMP have confirmed they found Leanna Frenchman safe at a residence on St. Laurent Drive, the same street where they found the stolen car.

She was found at about 1:30 p.m., almost nine hours after she was kidnapped.

Update – Feb. 14, 11:27 a.m.

RCMP officers found the stolen Pontiac in a residential area on St. Laurent Drive in North Battleford at 10:30 a.m.

Neither the suspect or Leanna Frenchman were in the vehicle and police say they are now treating it as a kidnapping.

Officers are making patrols as they continue their search for Frenchman and the suspect. People are being warned of increased police presence as the search continues.

Anyone with a camera is being asked to review it for suspicious activity or a sighting of the car or Frenchman and call police immediately if they see anything. Officers are especially interested in any footage of the car’s movements.

The man is described as having a round shaped face and was wearing a baggy red sweater and jeans. No other descriptors are available at the moment.

Update – Feb. 14, 8:02 a.m.

A woman is considered missing following an armed carjacking in North Battleford early Friday morning.

Battlefords RCMP said around 5:00 a.m., they received a report of an armed robbery on Railway Avenue E in North Battleford.

Officers responded immediately learned that an armed man approached a vehicle with two women inside. The man threatened the vehicle occupants and stole the vehicle with 33-year-old Leanna Frenchman reportedly still inside

As Frenchman hasn’t been found since the carjacking, police now consider her a missing person and are worried about her wellbeing.

The second woman got out of the vehicle and reported no physical injuries to police.

Initial investigation has determined Frenchman and the suspect do not know each other. It is unknown where they are travelling to, but they were last seen driving in the City of North Battleford in a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Saskatchewan license plate 186 NSA.

Leanna Frenchman is described as approximately 5’6” tall and 105 lbs. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for a red 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with a Saskatchewan license plate of 186 NSA.

Battlefords RCMP issued the alert early Friday morning after an armed carjacking took place in North Battleford.

The suspect reportedly brandished a firearm before stealing the vehicle. The direction of travel is unknown at this time, but police are asking anyone who observes the vehicle not to approach it and instead call 911 immediately.
