May 17, 2019 | 12:01 PM

A group of bowlers from Prince Albert are hoping city residents can spare a few bucks this weekend.

A garage sale taking place Friday and Saturday at the Minto Bowl and Rec. Centre is the fundraising grand finale before the bowlers split for nationals later this month in Surrey, B.C. Sean Dieno plays on the men’s team and explained their travel costs will not be cheap.

“The cost for everything is about $16,000,” he said of the trip to nationals.

The Great Western Open Provincials were held last March in Regina. Only the top teams from each division advanced to nationals. The men’s and mixed teams from Prince Albert finished first, as well as Taylor Trach, who is from North Battleford, but bowls out of Prince Albert. Dieno said all the bowlers are very excited about the upcoming trip.

“Everybody is pretty pumped to go because a lot of us have not been to Nationals before,” he said.

The garage sale, which includes a barbeque and 50/50 draw, runs until 8 p.m. on Friday, and then from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m on Saturday.
