Teen girl and two men arrested following stolen vehicle chase in Lloydminster

A 15-year-old girl and two men in Lloydminster are now in custody after leading police on a chase in a stolen car.

On Monday afternoon, the RCMP in Lloydminster received several 911 calls about a driver behaving erratically and crashing with multiple vehicles on the south side of the city.

According to a police release, officers later located the car, which had also been reported stolen. Due to the potential danger it posed to the public, they started chasing it, leading to the stolen vehicle colliding with an RCMP car. However, no injuries were reported.

As a result of a collaborative effort involving the Lloydminster, Maidstone, and Kitscoty RCMP, along with Wilton Police, ALERT, and SERT, three individuals were arrested and the stolen car was recovered.

“This was a very fluid situation and a collaboration between multiple police units in several jurisdictions brought this dangerous event to a conclusion without any injuries to police or the public,” said Const. Paul Ritchie of the Lloydminster RCMP General Investigations Section, in a release.

After further investigation, the 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with five offences, including flight from police, assault on a police officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property over $5,000

She is set to be in court on Feb. 11. at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster.

The two other suspects, aged 27 and 30, face charges of possessing stolen property over $5,000 and will appear in court on March 4 at the same court as the girl. Furthermore, police say their names cannot be released as the charges have not yet been heard in court.
