After a delay led to another week before the recount in Battleford’s municipal election could take place, the town finally has an answer: Clayton Lazar is the clear winner. By one vote.
The election took place on November 13 and Lazar, a political newcomer unseated incumbent David George, who had served roughly 20 years as councillor and had 322 votes cast for his name.
Lazar had 323.
He will now take his place alongside fellow councillors Judy Pruden, Doug Laing, Shelley Boutin-Gervais, Kevin Russell, another newcomer Mark Coleman and Mayor Ames Leslie.
