Copper wire theft leads to charges

Three people face charges after the theft of copper wire from a jobsite in the RM of Frenchman Butte.

Turtleford RCMP were called about the theft of approximately 500 m of copper wire from the site on Nov. 23.

Three men were arrested in Paradise Hill the following day.

Twenty-two-year-old Declan Weinhandl of Paradise Hill faces three charges, including theft over $5,000, and he was also arrested on warrants for assault causing bodily harm and failure to attend court.

He will be in court in St. Walburg Dec. 3.

30-year-old Colby Riguidel of Lloydminster is charged with one count each of mischief and theft over $5,000 and will be in court Jan. 7 in St. Walburg.

Austin Jezowski, 26, is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The Paradise Hill native will be in court in St. Walburg Jan.7.

This marks the second time Turtleford RCMP were called about copper wire thefts in November, and anyone who has seen suspicious activity can call 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
