Third period surge leads to OT win for North Stars over Hounds
It was another exciting night of hockey at the Access Communications Centre on Saturday as the Battlefords North Stars beat the Notre Dame Hounds 4-3 in overtime.
The lamp lit up early as the Hounds scored on the first shot of night just 35 seconds in to the opening period, coming from Hudson Kerr to take a 1-0 lead. The North Stars answered back later on in the frame, getting a goal of their own from Braden Nienaber to tie it, 1-1.
In the second, it was the Hounds who opened up the scoring again, getting a goal from Marko Djordjevic to restore the lead. Despite getting tons of good shot and out shooting the Hounds, the North Stars couldn’t find the back of the net and went into the third trailing by one.
There, the Hounds came out strong and found another goal, this time from Brandon Meyers to extend the lead and go up 3-1 with just over 10 minutes left.
