Undetermined cause of Best Canadian Motor Inn fire on Monday night

The North Battleford Fire Department (NBFD) and the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency have ruled the cause of the fire at the Best Canadian Motor Inn on October 14 was undetermined.

The City of North Battleford said the fire started just before 10 p.m. and affected three motel rooms. No deaths or major injuries were reported, but one person suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

At the time of the incident, 40 of the 50 rooms were occupied. The NBFD teams and Battleford RCMP members worked together to evacuate the residents.

Approximately 32 firefighters were called in to assist, but the high wind gusts made it challenging to put out the fire. In addition to the North Battleford Fire Department, crews from the Rural Municipality of North Battleford and the Town of Battleford Fire Departments were also there to help.
