North Stars fall to Kindersley in pre-season matchup

Only three minutes later, Boughen scored another goal on the power play to tie it up 3-3. Just as the North Stars started to gain momentum, it was the penalties that held them back, getting four in the second period. This gave the Klippers a few power play opportunities, which they eventually scored on the take the 4-3 lead and finish off the period.

Trailing by one to start the final period, the North Stars really stepped it up, battling for every puck and finding lots of good scoring chances. Even though they outshot the Klippers 14-7 in the period, it just wasn’t enough as yet again Kindersley scored three unanswered goals, this time coming from Dawson Karol, Zakery Anderson and Daniel Carel.

North Stars veteran, Jackson Allan was able to get the final goal of the game to close the gap a little bit to make it a final score of 7-4 in favour of Kindersley.

Despite giving the Klippers seven power play opportunities, that wasn’t the biggest issue for the North Stars. Even though getting less penalties would’ve been helpful to the team, their penalty kill played rather good, stopping Kindersley six of seven times.

It was the North Stars ability to stop traffic in front of the net and prevent second and third scoring chance opportunities for the Klippers. Out of the seven goals Kindersley had, five of them were either from tipped shots through traffic or loose pucks in front off a rebound.

That being said, there was also a lot of good takeaways from the game as well. The North Stars showcased there fast pace and high tempo play style as well as there impressive young group of skaters who showed great chemistry with the older returning players on the team.

The North Stars will have a chance for some revenge as they take on the Kindersley Klippers again, tomorrow night in Kinderlsey at 7:30 PM. Then again for the home opener at the Access Communications Centre on Friday, September 20th.
