Two arrested after armed robbery in Poundmaker Cree Nation

One man and a woman were arrested on Aug. 18 after a report of an armed robbery in Poundmaker Cree Nation.

According to RCMP, the two suspects assaulted one woman, held a man at gunpoint and shot the firearm into the air. The two suspects forced the victims to drive them to a residence in Poundmaker Cree Nation.

In a media release, the RCMP said upon arriving at the house, the suspects confronted a man in an attempt to get the keys to a parked truck. After they couldn’t get his keys, they left the scene on foot.

RCMP also stated no life-threatening injuries were reported.

The Saskatchewan RCMP’s drone was used to search the area and found a woman running behind a residence on Poundmaker Cree Nation. She was arrested without incident.

As a result of further investigation, a 27-year-old man from Little Pine First Nation is charged with several offences, including one count of robbery with a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, one count of discharging a firearm with intent, one count of uttering threats against a person, two counts, weapons possession contrary to order, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of careless use of a firearm, and one count of failure to comply with a probation order. He is also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Cut Knife RCMP.

The second suspect, a 21-year-old woman, is charged with one count of robbery with a firearm, one count of assault, one count of uttering threats against a person, and one count of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

The two suspects appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 19.
