Mr. Joel Kent Young

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joel Kent Young on August 5, 2024 at the age of 54. Joel was born on December 9, 1969 in Regina, Sk. to Bob and Rita Young. Joel arrived in North Battleford with his family in the summer of 1973, enjoying life on the family farm while he completed all of his public education and played hockey and football.
Joel worked at the Kinsmen Swimming Pool and was part of the Lifeguard Team that competed in the World Competitions in Sydney, Australia in 1988. His high school sweetheart, Cheryl Lampitt, became the love of his life and they were married in 1996. After graduating from high school, Joel moved to Saskatoon where he spent the rest of his life, working first at a sod farm, and later as a hunting guide and doing landscaping and snow removal. Joel was very mechanically inclined, a jack of all trades, with a great sense of humour and a joke for any occasion. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, boating, and snowmobiling. He was a loyal friend, quick to help anyone who asked. Joel will be remembered not only for the life he lived, but for the love he shared and the impact he had on our lives.
Joel is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; his son, Lincoln; his parents, Bob and Rita Young; his siblings Rob Young, Shauna and Darren Sehn (Jeremy, Cody & Ocean, Austin & Jade) and Todd Young (Coleman & Allyce, Nathan, Mackenzie); his in-laws, Neil and Sharon Lampitt, Barb and Mark Wheler (Johnathan, Zach, Hannah); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and some amazing and supportive friends.
A private memorial service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of sending flowers, if you would like to make a contribution to an education fund for Joel’s son (Lincoln), contact any family member.
The family extends special thanks and appreciation to Eternal Memories Funeral Service of North Battleford.
Condolences for the family can be made at www.eternalmemoriesfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Eternal Memories Funeral Service & Crematorium – Trevor Watts Funeral Director.
