A 34-year-old man from North Battleford appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court earlier today via video after being changed on multiple counts following a North Battleford Crime Reduction Team (CRT) investigation.

Earlier this week, CRT were on active patrol as part of a stolen vehicle investigation. In the early evening on Sunday they saw a vehicle with plates belonging to a different vehicle outside of a motel. According to a report, police knocked and a man “appeared at the window and pointed an item that resembled the barrel of a firearm at the officer.”

After not complying with police, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team helped arrest the man. In the room, police found a katana-style sword, a metal cylinder and some methamphetamine. They also discovered he gave police a false name and check in with a stolen credit card. In addition to the new charges, he had been wanted by Prince Albert RCMP for removing his electronic monitoring bracelet and breaking his release conditions.

His new charges are one count, uttering threats, one count, resist and obstruct peace officer, one count, identify fraud, one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count, assault on police officer, one count, obtain lodging by fraud and three counts, and failing to comply with a release order condition.
