One man was arrested and a woman is on the run following a report of a break and enter at a rural residence near Debden.

It happened on June 28 around 11 a.m. Big River RCMP determined five firearms and a credit card were stolen from the home. They determined the suspects were driving a white pick-up truck that had been reported stolen out of Aberdeen. Officers tried to stop the truck but the suspects fled, taking off at a high rate of speed. Police later found the vehicle abandoned on Big River First Nation and determined an individual had fled into the bushes.

With help from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services and the Remote Piloted Aircraft System, officers located 49-year-old Aaron Tawpisim from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. He faces several charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and flight from peace officer. Tawpisim appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on July 2.

The second suspect, 30-year-old Chantelle LaChance from Big River First Nation is also facing charges. A warrant has been issued for her arrest as Big River RCMP continue to search for her.
