Fond du Lac pedophile declared dangerous offender
A Fond du Lac man who has been convicted of multiple incidents of sexually assaulting children as young as four, has been declared a dangerous offender but instead of indeterminate jail time was given a determinate sentence.
Lawrence Fred Adam, age 57, was given an extra 94 days in jail after spending over 1,500 days in remand before his conviction.
While dangerous offenders are often given indeterminate sentences, the provincial court judge who sentenced him recently noted Adam was not convicted of any new sexual assaults for some time until 2021.
“I am hopeful that by the imposition of another long-term supervision order, carefully supervised as it was prior to the COVID pandemic, that Mr. Adam would again do better and make progress. Simply stated, I conclude that for a period of time, Mr. Adam was being successfully managed and supervised within the community and the public was not at risk during that time,” wrote Judge Kovatch in a recently-released decision.
