WSA investing $1 million into Northern Sask. projects
The Water Security Agency announced Tuesday that it is investing $1 million into three watershed projects in Northern Saskatchewan stretching from the Prince Albert area to the Meadow Lake region.
The projects are the Cowan Lake Dam structure replacement, the Candle Lake Dam structure and stoplog upgrades, and the Christopher Lake outlet structure. These projects are part of the Churchill River Watershed, the Saskatchewan River Watershed, and the North Saskatchewan River Watershed.
“A sustainable and reliable water supply is fundamental and is especially important in Northern Saskatchewan,” Water Security Agency Minister David Marit said in a release.
“As Northern Saskatchewan continues to grow, and we see increased water demands – maintaining our infrastructure is critical to continue to meet the social, environmental and economic needs for all users in these regions, including our Indigenous communities and rural municipalities.”
