VANCOUVER — One person is in custody and one person was airlifted to hospital after a possible shooting in Salmon Arm, B.C.

Salmon Arm RCMP say they are responding to a serious incident, which they say is a possible shooting, in the city, about 100 kilometres north of Kelowna.

RCMP spokesman Christopher Manseau says in an email that one male is in custody and the area is contained. He adds “there is no active or ongoing threat.”

Global News and the CBC report that a man was shot and has died after an incident at the Church of Christ based on information from family members of the victim, but police would not confirm those reports.

One person was airlifted to hospital after BC Emergency Health Services received a call about an incident at the Church of Christ.

Spokeswoman Amy Robertson says there were two patients at the scene. It was unclear if one of the initial patients is the man in custody.

Robertson says the call came in at 10:37 a.m. and that one air ambulance and two ground units were dispatched.

She was unable to provide information on the extent or cause of the injuries.
