North Stars top Klippers in regular season finale to win third straight
The Battlefords North Stars wrapped up their regular season schedule Saturday, topping the rival Klippers, 3-2 in Kindersley, to extend their winning streak to three straight heading into the postseason.
A scoreless game at the end of the first, and a 2-0 Klippers’ advantage at the end of two, the North Stars’ comeback effort was led by Kobie Anderson, who took control with a pair of assists in the first half of the third to draw his team even.
The first came on a precision pass cross-seem to Treycen Wuttunee at the side of the net, for a power-play strike just five minutes in, on Wuttunee’s second of the year.
Anderson then continued to dazzle shorthanded, ragging the puck down the ice and keeping control until he found Colton Getzlaff on another beautiful dish for Getlaff’s third of the season, and second in his last two games.
