Demo Derby to include Food Truck Wars this year

Feb 5, 2024 | 1:56 PM

Those who like a choice of treats to munch on while watching the Demo Derby in North Battleford will get to do just that, since Food Truck Wars is also coming this year.

Organizer Dale Belair, of Food Truck Wars Canada, will run the food truck event for three days at the exhibition grounds, from July 19 to 21. The event will take place in conjunction with the Battlefords Agricultural Society’s Demolition Derby, which will run for one day on July 20.

“We did 17 events in Saskatchewan during COVID. Basically, we bring in food trucks and retail vendors,” Belair said. “Sometimes we partner with events already happening. In North Battleford we’ll be alongside the Demolition Derby on the Saturday. We want to build a bigger event and have people come all weekend.”

He noted the Battlefords Agricultural Society is excited about the Food Truck event coming, and thinks it will be a good fit.

“There’s quite a few [food] trucks that do follow us,” Belair said.

Whether people are going to the Demo Derby or just passing by, Belair encourages them to check out the Food Truck Wars event. Food trucks with Filipino cuisine, Poutine, Booster Juice, and Chow Queen, are among those expected to take part, coming from across Saskatchewan.

This is the first time the Food Truck Wars has come to the Battlefords.

If any vendors or food truck owners want to book a spot, they can contact Dale at 306-515-4333.

The event will be something new for the Battlefords.

“It will be exciting,” Belair said. “I imagine you’ll get good support.”
