City approves land sale for property on 99 Street

North Battleford city council approved a land sale for a property at 2732 99th Street during a special meeting of council today.

The empty lot is located in a commercial zoned area at the north end of the city, off the Service Road.

City Manager Randy Patrick said a previous potential buyer, who has since withdrawn their proposal, offered the city $110,000 for the site, as well as conditions for a clean up of some areas.

The new buyer, NorthWEST Group of Companies offered to purchase the land without conditions for $125,000.

“This is another purchaser’s request that has come in,” Patrick said. “I looked at it, and it’s certainly competitive with the previous one… We’re recommending it be passed today.”

He added that having no conditions for the city to meet is also a plus.

The city needed to have a special meeting to approve the purchase quickly, to meet the closing date, which is Tuesday.

The city will also need to pay a fee to the realtor who assisted in the sale. The realtor’s fee will be covered in a separate resolution that will be done later.
