Battlefords business showcase to celebrate young entrepreneurs

A Battlefords’ shop is looking for youngsters looking to grow their business acumen

Wolf Garden and Open Market will be hosting a Young Entrepreneur Showcase in early February and are looking for young people with up-and-coming businesses.

“We’re trying to focus on promoting the youth in our community and area,” said Wanda Wolf, owner and operator.

She explained the event is to allow up-and-coming like-minded youngers to have a chance to grow their following and showcase their work. At Christmas, the market invited a couple of young ladies and it was quite popular.

“The response from the community was phenomenal,” Wolf said, noting they had done a similar venture a couple of years earlier. “The community is now more than willing to support and encourage and promote young entrepreneurs and get them going.”

The showcase will take place at Wolf Garden and Open Market (442 22nd Street) on Feb. 3 and 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and each person will have their own table. Some entrepreneurs’ businesses are seasonal and so won’t be able to sell right away but Wolf said it’s still an opportunity to get their information out.

“The goal is exciting. I hope we can achieve it as getting a limelight or a focus on the young in our community and area.”

The businesses who will be in attendance range from doll making to dog treats to folded books art and everything else in between. The event has room for about 12 businesses, though they may be able to squeeze in more.

“It’s pretty exciting so far and I expect now that the cold snap is lifting, people will come and ask some questions,” said Wolf.
