Battlefords Songsters bring ‘A Million Dreams’ to TeleMiracle

The Battlefords Blend Harmony Chorus wants to give “A Million Dreams” to Saskatchewan.

The chorus – a longtime chartered member of the Sweet Adelines – recently returned from their pre-recorded performance for the TeleMiracle 48.

“It was wonderful, we basically did a little bit of warming up while they were setting up the stage, and that allowed them to sound checks and get the lighting right and get their camera angles,” said Andrea Stweart, Chorus President.

The group choice repertoire from “The Greatest Showman” was completed in one take and took about 15 minutes.

“It went very well and they treated us like royalty,” she said.

The chorus got to experience the bright lights and while the experience should have been nerve-wracking, it proved to be a relaxed environment.

“It seems everyone felt really good about it. They thought we sounded good, we certainly looked good,” she said, laughing.

“It was a long trip in, we warmed up in the van on the way in, we were ready to sing,” Stewart said. “We’re used to being able to go somewhere and sing and get in and get out.”

While they haven’t started their fundraising efforts yet, there are a couple of initiatives in the works including a chorus–driven performance event at Battleford United Church on the weekend before the TeleMiracle.

To donate, Stewart recommends going directly through individual performers as that will ensure Nutrien will match dollar for dollar up to $100,000 and the chorus can be contacted via their Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Stewart said she was looking forward to hearing how they sounded.

“They’re actually going to call me, and it’ll be a live video at whatever time they put us on,” she said.
