Little Pine man charged with multiple drug and firearm offenses

Arrests have been made following a traffic stop just outside North Battleford on Highway 40 on Saturday, Dec. 9.

A news release said following the stop, the officer from the North Battleford Crime Reduction, saw open liquor in the vehicle and during a further search, officers found a “semi-automatic handgun, approximately 56 grams of cocaine, a sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.”

All the people in the vehicle were arrested following the stop and as a result of a subsequent search warrant at a Little Pine First Nation home, Steven Nighttraveller, 45, was charged after RCMP found and seized five additional firearms, ammunition, bear mace, and some more cocaine. The others were released without being charged.

According to the release, Nighttraveller has since been charged with nine individual counts: possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of firearm obtained by crime, unlicensed possession of firearm with readily-available ammunition, occupy a vehicle knowing a firearm is in it, knowingly possess a restricted firearm without a license, possession of restricted firearm without a license, carry concealed weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
