Hospital Foundation’s Swinging with the Stars SOLD OUT

Dec 7, 2023 | 8:00 AM

Hot on the heels of another successful Festival of Trees, the Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation got more exciting news on Wednesday with the announcement that the upcoming “Swinging With The Stars” event at the Don Ross Centre is completely sold out.

Tickets for the Feb. 3 fundraiser went on sale Monday and were snatched up in less than 48 hours prompting organizers to create a ticket waitlist for any seats that may become available.

BUH Foundation executive director Leanne Ducommun was elated with the response to the fundraiser.

“Swinging with the Stars is going to be so much fun,” Ducommun said. “I could not think of a better time to host an event like this when we are right in the middle of winter when people are looking for things to do.”

The premise of “Swinging with the Stars” is similar to the Emmy-winning TV show Dancing With Stars in which local celebrities team up with professional dancers to learn a dance routine. Each celebrity is also given a $5,000 fundraising goal.

Among the celebrity dancers are Dal Lynds, Mandy Lehman, Dr. Kelsey Lazar, Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie, David Stokalko, Tonya Lehman and CJNB’s Grant Schutte.

Each local celebrity couple will perform their choreographed routines in front of a panel of judges, who, along with audience members, will have the chance to vote for their favourite performances.

The evening will also feature a dinner and multicultural dancers and singers showcasing the diversity of talent the area has to offer all while raising funds for much-needed equipment at the Battlefords Union Hospital.

“The medical equipment that we purchase helps ensure patient care doesn’t stop,” Ducommun added. “I believe a connected community is a healthy community and that is why we do the fundraising that we do.”

If you were not able to purchase tickets you are encouraged to join the ticket waitlist by contacting the BUH Foundation.
