Cochin Community Players gets ready for new show
There’ll be some laughter in the house later this month and into December when the Cochin Community Players put on their latest play The Cemetery Club.
Betty Ternier Daniels, chair of the board of directors, describes the play as a dramatic comedy, given the nature of the script by playwright Ivan Menchell.
The play is about three friends – all widows who get together to meet at their husband’s gravesites once a month and go for tea together.
Ternier Daniels explains in the story Ida is ready to begin a new life; Lucille just wants to have fun; and Doris is priggish and judgmental, particularly when Sam enters the scene. He meets the widows while visiting his wife’s grave. Doris and Lucille squash the budding romance between Sam and Ida. They are guilt-stricken when this nearly breaks Ida’s heart.
