The hottest offense in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League came through with another big night for the hometown crowd Friday, as the Battlefords North Stars swept their back-to-back with the Yorkton Terriers with an 8-5 win.

Coming off consecutive 9-2 victories heading into play, the North Stars have now scored 26 goals over their last three games, with another seven different players chipping in on the with at least a single tally Friday, led by another four-point night (two goals, two assists) from superstar, Kian Bell.

After the Terriers opened the scoring early, Battlefords local Kobie Anderson cashed in for his second of the season, chipping a puck over the sprawled Yorkton goaltender to knot the score at a goal apiece.

The teams would continue to barb back-and-forth as the first period went along, then trading power play goals from Jaron Desnoyers (Terriers) and Evan Waldie (North Stars), to make it a 2-2 game by the first intermission.

In the second, the North Stars pulled away with five straight from Bell (his second of the night), Jordan Grill, Rylan Williams, Andrew Casellato (his second in as many nights), and Brayden Sinclair to quickly take the lead and expand on it over the course of the frame, before a late Terriers’ marker prior to the buzzer.

A 7-3 Battlefords’ lead into the third period, back-to-back tallies by Jye Zawatsky and Quintin Ureiner got Yorkton back to within a pair, though that is as close as the team would come, with Bell’s second of the night capping the scoring at 8-5 Battlefords.

North Stars’ goalie Justen Maric made 28 saves to backstop the team to the win, while Adam Kelly and Blake Sittler again split the game, with Kelly allowing five goals on 13 shots, before being replaced by Sittler who stopped 19-of-22.

With the win, the North Stars improve to 10-6-0-1 through 17 games. Still fourth overall in the league standings, the team is now tied with third-place Melfort at 21 points, though the Mustangs do hold a single game in hand.

The North Stars will now get a full week off, before returning to action next Friday, for their first game of a back-to-back next weekend with the Weyburn Red Wings. Both games will be available on 1050 CJNB with the Ultra Print Pregame Show at 7 p.m. and puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m. on the NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Broadcast.
