RCMP charge two in North Battleford after firearm found during traffic stop

Oct 27, 2023 | 3:24 PM

Two people are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in North Battleford.

On Oct. 21, a vehicle was pulled over in the 800 block of 103 Street.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested after officers saw what they believed to have been open alcohol, methamphetamine, and weapons.

During a search of the vehicle, officers ended up finding a firearm and a hatchet. The RCMP didn’t specify whether any alcohol or methamphetamine was seized.

The two people, one from North Battleford and one from Saskatoon, have since been charged with a combined 18 charges including possession of a firearm when unauthorized and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both made court appearances in North Battleford provincial court earlier this week.
