Flying Dust Councillor returning as popular character in season three of Shoresy

A councillor with the Flying Dust First Nation isn’t quitting acting anytime soon.

That’s because Jon Mirasty is set to star in season three of Shoresy as Crave has once again renewed the hit hockey comedy and Letterkenny spinoff.

Season two has been out for less than a month, however, the reception was big enough for the streaming service to bring it back once again.

“Knowing there’s a future for the show is exciting,” said Mirasty.

Mirasty plays one of the three Jims, arguably the most liked characters, alongside former hockey players and brothers Brandon and Jordan Nolan.

The three saw their screentime increase during the second season. However, there was one scene where Mirasty joked didn’t get a great reception from people in his community.

“I get beat up, I think in episode three, and a lot of the young kids were saying ‘how did you lose that fight?”

Despite getting some light-hearted jabs from the youth, Mirasty is happy they’re watching the show and hopefully see that anything is possible for them.

“I’m trying to set the standard for our youth and young people, to chase their dreams,” he said.

Mirasty will be headed to Sudbury, Ontario soon to start filming. He’s expecting to be there for around five weeks.

Despite that, he plans on coming back from time to time to continue his work as a councillor for the First Nation.

“That was a question that was brought up (during the election) and not one Elder or person that voted for me said to quit the show,” he said.

He added he’s keeping his phone on at all times to ensure community members can still reach him.

Meanwhile, Mirasty is still trying to get the star of Shoresy to come visit Flying Dust.

He and Jared Keeso have become close friends since filming started. The two have been trying to plan a trip to Saskatchewan, but just haven’t been able to make it happen.

“Jared is an unbelievable guy and an unbelievable human being, and he has a lot of passion for First Nations people. He really wants to just with me being in a leadership role and his busy schedule. It’s just hard to get us all together,” said Mirasty.

He’s still hoping Jared will be able to come up in the near future.
